Letting Go

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

Understanding what and why.....

Why is it so hard to let go when we know it's the right thing to do?

One word is fear. We fear what we don't know, we fear our beliefs, we fear emotions and don't understand what makes us happy. Emotions are temporary, for example you want to buy a new phone and decided the purchase will make you happy. So you worked hard and got the new phone. After a few weeks, the excitement of having a new phone wares off and you're looking for the next thing to make you happy.

We also define our identity by what society says or our beliefs state we need to be successful, your title, money, what we own. If we were to loose it tomorrow, who would we be? Think about that? Would you be OK and say things don't define you or would you suffer and be lost! Can you see how when we define happiness by things and emotional gratification it shows we need to look deeper at who we are, our beliefs may be outdated and what is happiness to you.

What is the benefit of looking deep and letting go

  • Nothing or no one can make you feel something you don't want to feel

  • Free to make choices that are best for you

  • Remove the word "need" and replace it with "choose"

Better relationships

  • Relationships that are free from fear of lose, or need

  • Attracting what you want vs unhealthy relationships

  • Moving forward requires you to let go, forgive yourself, the situation and realize that the situation is over

  • Creates space for new beginnings

  • Allows you to be more kind to yourself

  • Let go of things that serve no purpose and make room for what you want in your life
